The Momo Inspirations series shines the spotlight on on a range of designers using Momo Handles in their projects.

We find out you where they draw their inspiration from for designs and product choices, as well as showcase to the

world the unique projects they have brought to life for their clients. Today we talk with Yuraisha from Project / Y

and look at both her recently completed home and also Katina's home who is one of her clients.

We are here filming at your recently completed home, tell us the background behind the project?

This Dover Heights home was converted from 2 semi detatched dwellings to a single free standing house. The 1930’s art deco structure already had great bones but needed some love to help bring it back to life. The extension to the back of the home was added creating a spacious kitchen, which flows out to alfresco dining terrace, garden and pool area. It includes a 3 metre island bench and a butlers pantry to complete it.

What are the highlighting features in this project and the handles you’ve used?

The mix of the dark polyurethane shaker cabinetry, wood veneer and the matt brass Barrington Momo handles cohesively worked so well. Setting a sophisticated yet dramatic vibe. The handles tied in with the chandelier, brass inlay marble splashback tiles and brass tapware perfectly.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

For most of my projects I get my inspiration from the home itself. Whether it’s a California bungalow or an art deco home, I like to pay homage to the style or period.
I request at the beginning of the project, images of the clients special feature furniture pieces and their artworks. That really helps me get an insight to their style. From there I draw on colour palettes and finishes for the home.

What are the top kitchen styles your clients are asking for?

Experimenting with combining different door finishes; darker stains for cabinetry colours, mesh and glass door inserts. Another increasingly popular kitchen add on is creating a fully equipped butler pantry, which effectively becomes a second kitchen.

What are the top 3 emerging trends we will see across 2022?

1) Varying shades of green and blue
2) Bronze hardware
3) Natural timber tones

Would you base your overall design / styling around a specific kitchen handle or are handles an afterthought?

The finish/colour is chosen before however, I like to workshop the styles with the client after the joinery arrives. For me it’s like finishing an outfit with your jewellery. The handles are the jewels.

Do you and your clients prefer using a consistent handle finish throughout all joinery in the home or does this vary depending on the room?

Based on the last few projects my clients have preferred having the same finish throughout the home. Keeping a consistent finish with all the architectural hardware throughout the home including the lighting, door lock, door handles and hinges.

Do you have a preference for handle material/finishes?

I have always gravitated to solid brass. It’s just always been my go to. I am really loving the brass variations now offered like the dark brushed brass, antique brass in addition to the satin brass. This opens up so many options to work across different design styles.

What are your favourite Momo Handle ranges?

It’s a tough call to choose between the Barrington and Belgravia range in the solid brass finish, both versatile styles. The back plate that is available to add on to the Barrington range really elevates the look of a knob or handle. The Belgravia Bar Pull is a solid handle to use on large doors and heavy integrated appliance doors with confidence.

What sets the Momo handles range apart from other brands in the market?

For me it’s the quality and the wide variety of the Momo range. When I present Momo hardware to my clients the exceptional quality is often mentioned.
